SCOPE OF WORK IN THE DEPARMENT OF OPHTHALMOLOGY

1. Out Patient Department:

Runs on all days except Monday  and Thursday between 9am to 4pm

1. Refraction and prescription of glasses, Contact Lens evaluation
2. Evaluation of cataract cases, pre operative work up including dilated fundoscopy, Lacrimal syringing, Biometry and follow up of post operative cases with Slit lamp Bio-microscopy
3. Cornea and external eye diseases evaluation and management: including dry eye diseases, Keratoconus cases, Corneal ulcers, Chmical injuries, Foreign body of ocular surface, MGD, Lid diseases, Concretion removal, Epilation.. etc.,
4. Evaluation of Retinal cases clinically including screening for Diabetic retinopathy Hypertensive retinopathy, Retinitis pigmentosa, retinal vascular disorders , CSR cases Age related Macular Degeneration and follow up of cases s/p anti VEGF
5. Screening of Glaucoma including IOP measurements, Optic nerve examination and Evaluation of Glaucoma (Except visual field analysis due to lack of facility of Automated Perimetry -request placed)
6. Evaluation of Lid, orbital, conjunctival tumours and management of lid and peri ocular benign lesions like Molluscum Contagiosum, I & C of Chalazion, I & D of abscess in lids, lacrimal sacs.

2. In Patient department:

OT performed on every Monday and Thursday except on general holidays between 9am to 4pm

1. Cataract surgeries with PC/AC/SF  IOL implantation
2. Pterygium surgeries with latest Cut & paste technique
3. Sac surgeries like Dacryocystectomy, Dacryocystorhinostomy, Lacrimal punctoplasty, Lacrimal stents etc.,
4. Orbital surgeries : Evisceration with /without Orbital implants, Enucleation
5. Lid surgeries like Tarsorrhaphy, Entropion / Ectropion reparative surgeries
6. Surgeries for External eye diseases: Dermoid cyst, Epidermal cysts, Nevus, Lid foreign body , Epibulbar dermoids etc.,
7. Management of ocular surface disorders: chemical injury, surface tumours, Corneal degenerations with Human Amniotic Membrane Grafts transplantation , traumatic corneal/ sclera/ conjunctival tears  repairs, suture removal etc.,

3. Emergency services: (24X7)

1. Management of any injuries like..Chemical injuries, Foreign body..
2. Funduscopy for -PIH (pregnancy induced hypertension), DM, HTN etc.,
3. Management of acute conditions Like Optic neuritis, Central retinal artery/ Vein occlusions, Orbital cellulitis, Conjunctivitis, Ophthalmia neonatorum etc.,
4. Ocular Trauma cases evaluation and management

4. Specialty clinics

1. Cornea clinic: Every Tuesday between 9am to 12 O clock
2. Glaucoma clinic: Every Wednesday between 2-4pm
3. Retina Clinic: Every Thursday between 9am to 12 O clock
